Hayden's tooth woes

Only days after his first orthodontist appointoint, our favorite 9 year old took a terrible spill on big bike, reducing his front tooth to a fraction of it's former self. About 3/4. Fortunately, we have since taken him to the dentist, and then specicialist (daily word: endontist) for a quick repair. He is now back to full health, and on schedule to cover that shiny new tooth, with a shiny set of braces.

Behind the scenes - Photo & video shoot for Visuell Interactive

Here is a peak at the photo and video shoot for Visuell Interactive's new website. Very cool video and flash fusion.

Thank you so much to Glen and Magda for looking hot and helping to put this together in such a huge rush, thanks to Aaron at Visuell, for being so fantastic to work with, and double thanks to Matt for running around us with the 5D to capture this backstage fun.

Video for Visuell was shot on the 7D with the 24-105mm and the 35mm f/1.4, and behind the scenes is on the 5D mkII with the 50mm f/1.2. Lighting with a set of Lowel lights, and a pair of Luxman portable packs that died 20 minutes into the shoot! So we were running at half power the whole time, which meant some serious masking in post, which was done in Photoshop.

Calgary Market Collective

Once again, Kensington hosts the wonderful Market Collective, where dozens of local artists come to sell the goods, play their music and hug a lot.

This was a quick same day edit of my talented fiancé Lee setting up shop. You can find her jewelry and accessories online at talltreeshop.com, and more about the Collective at marketcollective.ca.

Glidetrack Shooter

Straight out of the box, and onto my tripod, these are some test shots from around the house with my glidetrack.com. I clearly need some practice with the movement, but it will lead to wonderful things.

I Could Be Ordinary

Glen and I shot this little video about nothing last fall, in a couple of hours. intending to make it the music video for an unwritten song. Months later, that song remained unwritten, so it is now the music video for an impromptu demo recorded during band practice. So this was the first, and so far, only time we have played this song.

Song recorded live, through a mixer into an iPhone.

Dan Mangan "So Much For Everyone"

Final of song of my live footage at the Dan Mangan show. After an incredible performace, he climbed through the crowd for an encore atop the bar tables, and magiced us away with a singalong of So Much for Everyone from his album Postcards and Daydreaming. It took a few moments for everyones oooohs to come into tune with each other, but it was beautiful when they did.

Video shot on a Canon 5D mkII w/ 50mm f/1.2 lens, and audio with Zoom H4n.

Dan Mangan "Robots"

One of the best singalong songs, Dan Mangan performs Robots in Calgary.

I shot the video on a Canon 5D mkII w/ 90mm f/2.8 tilt/shift lens, mounted on a Gorilla pod, and audio with Zoom H4n. And remember, that robots need love too.

Mexico Beach - Short Video

Clips taken from our trip to Mexico in November, while shooting my friend Karen's wedding. It rained for most of the trip, so we took the pause in the storm to walk along the beach.

Testing some new techniques, I created the song in Logic Pro 9 (my first midi song ever), video edited in Final Cut, and graded using Magic Bullet Looks. Filmed on a Canon 5D MKII, using the 50mm f/1.2 L, and 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS.

Lack of photos

You may have noticed that I have taken a bit of a respit from photos since the winter started. I took some to work on some personal projects, and catch up on some design work. I'm also finally getting serious about music, and hope to have something solid in the next few months.

This year is going to be great, and I can't wait to share it with you.
